The Directorate of Teaching Quality Assurance (TQA) at the University of Sulaimani was established according to University order No.7/3/985 in 19/1/2010 for the first time. Since that time the directorate began the planning and constructing the framework of working in this important and new office.

The director was participating in three workshops inside and outside Iraq for learning and running the process, as well as to how the university applied it. The structure of office established according to the plan of the ministry and based on our ability.

The first workshop:

The first workshop for representatives from all colleges in the university was held in 29-3-2010 at the College of Science in the University campus from 14:00 to 17:15. At the beginning of the workshop the vice-president for scientific affairs and postgraduate studies at the university gave a brief talk about the process of TQA and introduce the director of the office. Later on, the director of TQA (Dr.Ibrahim M.J.Mohialdeen, Assist.Prof.) submitted the seminar in power point presentation, a freely discussion continued and the director answered most of the rising questions from the audiences. The rest of questions which need more accuracy and related to management promised to be answered latter.

The second workshop:

The second workshop held at the Culture Center of the University of Sulaimani on Thursday, 8-4-2010 at 10:00 to 14:00. The first point and according to the agenda was reviewing the previous workshop and any points related to its conclusions. Later on the structure of the office discussed in detail with the representatives. They will meet all members in the college committee next week and will talk with them about the TQA  . They will determine all coordinators in the departments and will held a meeting with them. In this workshop also talked about the University Value Statement to be prepared for the next meeting and will be written soon to be ready for the beginning of the new academic year 2010-2011.

The third workshop:

The next workshop also for the TQA's representatives of colleges will be held on Thursday 22-4-2010 at 10:00 at the Culture Center of University of Sulaimani.

The agenda will be finishing the framework of the office and reviewing the meetings in colleges also the departments which began to apply it for this semester. The second point will be the University Value Statement preparation.

On Thursday 22-4-2010 the third workshop for the TQA's representatives of colleges hold at the hall of Culture Center of the university. All attended members submit a report about the TQA office activities at their colleges.

All coordinators are assigned to apply the process in the next two months. Later on Dr Saman Rashid submitted a presentation about the TQA in his college.

The fourth workshop:

This workshop planned to be held on Thursday 27-5-2010. The agenda will include:

1- Reviewing the activity reports of each college.

2- UVS preparation, and

3- Feedback evaluation.

On Thursday 27-5-2010 the fourth workshop for the TQA's representatives of colleges hold at the hall of Culture Center of the university. All attended members submit a report about the TQA office activities at their colleges.

In this meeting we discuss the feedback collection and analysis, as well as preparing an Excel program for calculating and to preserve all data. Later, the discussion focused on UVS preparation. Nearly all members agreed that the UVS is not our work really, therefore we delay its preparation.

The fifth workshop:

This workshop planned to be held on Sunday 27-6-2010.

The agenda will include:

1- Reviewing the activity reports of each college.

2- Feedback results and discussion

3- Preparation for the next academic year 2010-2011.

On Sunday 27-6-2010 the fifth workshop for the TQA's representatives of colleges hold at the hall of Culture Center of the university. All attended members submit a report about the TQA office activities at their colleges.

The meeting began with reviewing the suggestions from the fourth meeting. New instructions from the ministry said we should apply the process to MSc students in academic year 2010-2011.

In this meeting we discuss the results of student feedbacks. Later, the discussion focused on the preparation for the next year.

The next meeting will be in September 2010, at the beginning of the new academic year at the University of Sulaimani.
